Ukiah Municipal is the only 18 hole course in Mendocino County. The next closest 18 hole courses are Windsor (1 hour) and Hidden Valley Lake (1:15) away. Both are in much better condition than Ukiah.
Ukiah Municipal is a locally designed and constructed course supported by a rabid golfing community. The greens are small. Fairway grass can range from very good to sparse (especially due to Gov Brown's water cutback edict). This spring, the course superintendent had the course in its best shape ever according to old-timers because of good rainfall. The course is short as reflected in the Course Rating. But the Slope Rating is high because to score, shots need to be placed. Lots of trouble with creeks and big (beautiful) oaks, pines, and redwoods. Portions of the course are very hilly, but many golfers walk the course...flat landers will definitely feel it when they reach #17! The tees at #2, #3, #6, and #17 provide wonderful views across the Ukiah Valley.
All in all, a very enjoyable place to play and work on almost all aspects of your game
